Today only made what was already a crazy off-season even crazier! To start the day Tim Tebow was traded to the Jets! Then we learned about 10 minutes later it might not go through. It seems as if it is the Broncos who are holding up this trade. The problem is that the Broncos paid Tebow $5 million before the money was actually due and the Broncos want the money back. Because of this snag in the deal, the Jaguars have now re-entered themselves into the contract. So essentially, before we wake up tomorrow, Tebow will have a new home in either New York or Jacksonville. I really don't even see what Tebow can bring to the table in New York. Literally I see nothing except to put him in as a package player. The only thing I see is the Jags get impatient with Blaine and stick Tebow in there to try and do something. Tebow is the most OVERRATED player in the NFL... EVER. No question about it. All he has is a work ethic. No skill.
Now to the Saints story. By far the biggest penalty ever handed to one single team. Sean Payton is suspended for the entire season, GM Mickey Loomis was suspended for 8 regular season games, and Gregg Williams was suspended indefinitely. This is worse than the Art Schlichter suspension for gambling. I have said this before and I will say this again, the bounty program is in ever football team down to high school football. Yes the broke the rules, and yes they lied to Goodell but really? All of these suspensions plus this years 2nd round pick as well as next years pick. Not to mention, the organization was also fined $500k. That is by far the most ridiculous chain of penalties I have ever seen, and probably will ever see. I want to hear what y'all have to think about it so please leave your comments below about this situation and the Tebow situation.
Also, Ronde Barber has decided to come back for his 16th season and Hines Ward retired yesterday. I really hope Ronde has one hell of a season this year as he is one of the most widely respected players in the league. I also thought it was really sad news to hear the Hines is retiring. Given the situation, it was the right move. I just think he had a lot more left in the tank and the circumstances just didn't play themselves right.
